Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department Telegrams used in the year 1948 and 1949

In my collection i have 10 different Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department Telegrams used in the year 1948 and 1949. All these telegrams used with the stamps of King George VI.

All of these telegrams sent from calcutta and other places to different cities of pakistan. Later these placed will be shifted into bangladesh because after some years Eastern part Bengal separated from Pakistan and became Bangladesh.


The following telegram used in the year 1949 from Assam to Bangladesh. In this telegram 5 Rupees stamp of King George VI & Archaeology series temple stamps used.






The following telegram cancelled in the year 1948 from Calcutta to Peshawar city, Pakistan with 1 Rupee Stamp & 2 Annas stamps of King George VI.










The following telegram used in the year 1948 from calcutta to banladesh cancelled with King George VI - 1 Rupee, 2 Rupees & 4 Annas stamps.










The following telegram used in the year 1948 from Gauhati to banladesh cancelled with King George VI - 1 Rupee stamp & Archaeology series 3 Annas stamps.







The following telegram used in the year 1948 from Howrah to Bangladesh cancelled with the stamps of King George VI - 2 rupees and 4 annas stamps.









The following telegram used in the year 1948 from Howrah to Bangladesh cancelled with 2 rupees, 1 rupee & 4 Annas postage stamps of King George VI.








The following telegram used in the year 1948 from 24 Paraganas Howrah to Bangladesh cancelled with 1 rupee & 14 Annas postage stamps of King George VI.

Recently I am sharing  my complete collection of Vintage Telegrams of India in my Heritage of India blog with the title  "Vintage Telegrams of India(Farewell to the 163 Year Old Telegraph System) on 14th July, 2013 which is the last day of Telegrams in India.

Further recently BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Delhi office staff contacted me through email and mentioned as on 14th July they are planning to prepare some posts in their Hindi website about the Telegraph System in India and they saw my telegrams images in this collections blog and they requested for using some of my images in their post. I gave permission to them for using my telegrams images.

On 14th July, 2013 which is the last of Telegraph System in India BBC prepared one post in their Hindi website and there BBC staff were using some telegrams images of my collection by mentioning my name in the respective image.
